One of the most stunning exhibits was the smart gate which will be used for paying for the Dubai Metro, Dubai Tram, buses, taxis and marine transport fares through facial recognition. Cameras will be used to recognize passengers and the system will then identify them. The cost of the fare will then be deducted from the passenger's account. There will no longer be a need for tickets, nol cards, or credit cards anymore. The initiative will lead to the reduction of cash transactions and the elevation of operational efficiency.
Visitors to GITEX 2023 can also see a model of the first abra in the world manufactured using 3D-printing technology. The boat, which is reminiscent of a traditional abra, will accommodate 20 passengers and feature eco-friendly electric motors.
Another initiative is the use of artificial Intelligence (AI) to predict parking occupancy in one hour time slots, two weeks in advance. It can help RTA app users to better plan their trips and save them time.
Moreover, the RTA will offer a service via the RTA Dubai Drive app that assists in transferring ownership of vehicle number plates, no longer requiring people to physically go to an RTA service centre.
