In Dubai, Eid al-Adha will be celebrated on June 28

The biggest and most important holiday in the Islamic calendar is Eid al-Adha, which also is known as The Feast of Sacrifice. The sacred day marks the end of the annual pilgrimage to Mecca, called the Hajj. In 2023, the date of Eid al-Adha falls on June 28, according to the lunar calendar.

On the morning of Eid al-Adha, believers pray at home or in mosques, in accordance with Muslim traditions. The key characteristic of the holiday is the ritual sacrifice of animals, and the custom distributing part of the meat to the poor. During Eid al-Adha, Muslims usually invite relatives to visit, as well as give gifts.

In Dubai, amazing fireworks will be organised in honour of the sacred holiday. Residents of the emirate will be able to enjoy magnificent shows at Dubai Festival City Mall and Dubai Parks and Resorts.

Official holidays during the celebration of Eid al-Adha for employees working in the private sector were announced by The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE). In the UAE, these holidays will last from June 27 to June 30.
